When I first started to look at my list of links to post this week I thought: we’re still talking about Pinterest?! Sure, the product is great, but hasn’t changed substantially since it came out. Nor have they come out with any new news (that I know of). But then I looked closer and realized that relevant things are, in fact, happening; namely, the big question of monetization – which Fancy (the Pinterest for —) is doing better than Pinterest. Switching gears, I’m always fascinated by the difference in coverage of mainstream media, trade outlets and the tech blogs. It’s interesting to see what ideas make it beyond the tech blogs, and how the information is covered. Case in point, the Sydney Morning Herald covering wearable technology. They’re not at the cutting edge, but it’s useful to see what’s going out to the mainstream. Similarly, we’ve discussed social games venturing into fashion here, and I’m happy to see it get coverage in WWD.
